About Us

The Berkshire African Dance & Drum Collective is a community-based cultural arts organization rooted in African Diaspora traditions.

We provide opportunities for education, performance, cultural engagement, and community building through dance, drumming, storytelling, and shared experience.

Our work honors tradition while creating meaningful connections in the present day.

Roots and Rhythms is a joyful, interactive workshop where participants of all ages explore African rooted movement, rhythm, and cultural storytelling. Guided by live drumming, the workshop blends dance, music, and communal energy to create an experience that is both grounding and uplifting.

Rooted in traditions of the African Diaspora, this session invites people of all backgrounds to connect through rhythm, celebrate cultural heritage, and discover the healing power of movement. Together, we build a vibrant, inclusive community where African Rooted dance is honored, shared, and enjoyed across generations.

What makes BADD unique is the depth of experience behind the work.

Our foundation comes from more than four decades of study with master teachers, drummers, and pioneers of African-rooted dance traditions.

Our team has had the privilege of studying with and learning from respected culture bearers whose teachings continue to guide this work today.

That knowledge is not only being preserved—it is being shared with the next generation.
